• What makes Power Pilates different

When choosing a program to attend I think it's really important that you find a good fit for you. There's a lot of different centers out there and the choices can be overwhelming. Do you want a classical certification, contemporary, rehabilitative? Speak to current apprentices in the program and new graduates. If you can, speak to someone that has a few certifications under their belt so they can give you their opinion of the differences.

  • How do I start
First you need to ask yourself whether you want to teach Mat Pilates or the full Pilates method on the equipment. At House of Pilates we offer Power Pilates training programs which encompass 3 levels of Mat certification - Beginner Mat, Intermediate Mat and Advanced Mat - as well as full Comprehensive Pilates Training as well.  Our Beginner Mat program is the foundation of all of our other courses and is therefore a pre-requisite to all of our other courses.
  • Are there any pre-requisites?

After you decide whether to train in Mat Pilates or full Comprehensive Training you can begin working on your pre-requsites. Either way, our experience is that the best teachers are usually the best clients first. It only makes sense that you should own the method in your body before attempting to pass it on to another person. For this reason there are set number of classes or sessions you will need to achieve before starting your training.

  • How long does it take?

The Beginner and Intermediate Mat courses are held on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We typically start on Friday at 4pm, so that most people can get in at least half a day of work, and go till 8pm. Saturday and Sunday are from 9-3pm and there is a written test Saturday night on the Beginner Mat weekend. The Advanced Mat course is two days both 8 hrs.

  • What if I'm already certified to teach Pilates

The most important thing to take away with you when finishing your Pilates course is that your education has only just begun. No one should ever assume that they know everything. Keep growing in your Pilates practice and see what else is out there. Keeping your Pilates compass active will help you become a well

rounded teacher for clients and mentor for students.

  • Where can I teach afterwards?

Morbi at magna id turpis convallis fermentum non eget tellus. Mauris aliquet mattis purus id cursus. Morbi ultricies facilisis congue.

  • Is teaching Pilates for me?

Our experience is that the best teachers start out as passionate clients. I'm always curious when someone inquires about being a Pilates instructor that has never done the method. What's the motivation if it isn't a passion for Pilates?

  • Can I make money teaching Pilates?
Your pay rate depends on a number of things one of which is whether you're teaching sessions or classes. Sessions are typically privates (one-on-one) or semi-privates (two or three clients per teacher). Think of these as appointments like personal training. Teaching sessions will typically generate more income than teaching classes but a lot depends on where you teach.
